： The Katjvarna Empire and the Kioka Republic are at war, with Katjvarna currently defending its borders against Kioka's attacks. Yatorishino, from an influential family within the empire, is on her way to take the senior officer examination. To ensure she tops the exam, she convinces the lazy, anti-war, womanizing Ikta to help her pass in exchange for a "beneficial" job from her family. The first written test goes as planned, after which they board a ship for the next test, along with other candidates.
